I decided to take a different route with my monster-filled thesis. I got fairly tired of making, to me, what felt like character study after character study. It seemed silly, considering I do not ever want to do character studies professionally. To free myself up a little more, I began to read articles on interesting things, and came across a fascinating read about the dastardly fish known as snakeheads. An invasive species that enjoys dining ravenously on other fish, and when the mood strikes, to get up and walk to the next body of water. My editorial curiosity has sprung once again. Too bad it's a dying market. But what isn't?

Here is an interesting equation for you to digest.

fish eat fish = fish eat meat

flying fish = fish can fly

snakeheads = fish can walk

put them together and you get = fish can walk, fly, and they enjoy eating meat (people are made of meat)

8-bit video games have always had a certain aesthetic appeal to me. I like em. As I perused the interweb for some interesting new material for my thesis, I came across these fellows. Stymphalian birds are flying metallic creatures with toxic fecal matter often used in conjunction to cause destruction and turmoil in the neighboring towns of the bogs in which they live. A concrete homage to Space Invaders is clearly evident.

Here's a little diddy for senior thesis. While not in her chicken leg hut, the Baba Yaga often enjoys flying around in her mortar while perusing the surrounding forest. Occasionally she will feast upon little children. I enjoyed this one a lot. This is good because I feel I have recently been stuck in a funk. I also feel very good about the color pallette which is a little new to me. Its safe to assume these colors will be sticking around for a little while longer. A step in the right direction.

Here was a fun project for Brian's class. We were to develop comic about a character being followed by a "stranger." It seemed a good topic for the horror genre so this is page one of two. Its a bummer we didn't get to finish the second page in class so it may be awhile before the end of the piece is shown. What a shame.

Recently I have been coming up with some successful imagery for Brian Ralph's Sequential Art class. I seem to have misinterpreted the type of work that was expected from the course, most importantly the fact that the pieces are generally supposed to be "comics" in a more traditional sense. Although I have found myself to enjoy numerous comics I am not as keen on creating them. The past few entries have been more along the lines of "art pieces that are sequential" more so than comics. In class I have been critiqued on my use of the same size panel for each image. It may be something I need to move past, or perhaps something I need to strengthen. I am not entirely sure yet, but i do enjoy them the way they are. What do you think?
